Our Fleet of Boats
Sail Corpus Christi owns a fleet of about 20 small boats, including 14 nearly-new Optimist sailboats, a Laser sailboat, a Flying Junior, a Flying Scot sailboat and three small Zodiac motorboats.  In addition, our affiliated program, CC Sail AWAY, has six nearly-new Access 303 sailboats designed especially for sailors with special needs.

Optimist sailboats
Optimist sailboats were designed specifically for kids from age 8 to age 15. The boat is only 8 feet long and weighs about 75 pounds. Recently, the Optimist design has become the most-raced sailboat in the world. It's a simple boat, excellent for learning to sail and great fun to sail even for adults. Our large fleet of nearly-new Optimist sailboats reflect our emphasis on teaching kids to sail. A recent study concluded that 85% of all sailors learned to sail by age 10, and that 85% learned on an Optimist sailboat.

Laser sailboat
Our Laser sailboat is about 14 feet in length and intended for one or two people. These boats are very fast and nimble.

Flying Junior sailboat
The 15' Flying Junior (or "FJ") is the boat of choice for college and university sailing teams in California and the Midwest. With a mainsail and a jib, it's a fun boat for 2-3 people.

Flying Scot sailboat
Our Flying Scot sailboat is much larger, at 19 feet in length and with a capacity of up to eight adults. This boat is great fun to sail and comfortable for two to four adults. The Flying Scot makes a great boat for a family outing.

Zodiac Rigid-Inflatable Powerboats
Our three Zodiac powerboats are used by our instructors to assure safety and flexibility of instruction for our students. These boats are 14 feet in length, with a fiberglass V-shaped hull and inflatable tubes around the sides. Each is equipped with a 25-horse-power outboard engine.
